Liepāja was the first city in Latvia to receive a new tram line following the restoration of independence.The extension of the tram line in Liepāja is a large and important project, having contributed to the improvement of the environment and city infrastructure along the route of the new line. From now on, travelling by tram will be even more convenient for those 11,000 citizens of Liepāja living in Ezerkrasts.
The result of the project is a new 3.6 km tram line reaching to the Ezerkrasts residential area.
The new line follows the Tukuma Street section from Klaipēdas Street to Ventas Street, Ventas Street from Tukuma Street to Ganību Street, Mirdzas Ķempes Street and terminates with the roundabout on Slapjā Street.
The construction or renovation of the relevant utility infrastructure, such as heating mains, gas mains sleeve pipes, low-voltage networks, water and sewage, power supply and street lighting, took place along with the construction of new pavements and sidewalks and area improvement.
The project also foresees accessibility solutions.
