The bridge across the Buļļupe was the first new bridge built in Latvia after the restoration of independence. Prior to this, some bridges had only been renovated. The new Buļļupe bridge is 179 metres and 20 centimetres long and 18 metres wide. The height from the average water level to the beams is 7 metres.

The bridge has two traffic lanes in each direction and a 3-metre wide pavement and there is also a provision for bicycle lanes on each side.

The Buļļupe bridge was built by the contractual partnership BMGS-S consisting of the combined resources of Skonto Būve Ltd. and JSC BMGS.
