Construction of the Vidzeme Nobility Credit Association’s Bank building was completed in August 1890. It is significant that 122 years later the facade and interior renovation and reconstruction work of this building was carried out by SIA Skonto Būve in August 2012 and these repair works lasted for 19 months.
The Italian neo-Renaissance style building located at Kr. Valdemara iela 1B, which was renovated and reconstructed by SIA Skonto Būve, is home to the customer service halls and customer service related departments of the Bank of Latvia, as well as the Bank of Latvia Department of Statistics. The building is in the historic centre of Riga, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage list.
During the renovation and reconstruction process led by SIA Skonto Būve Project Manager Modris Seļakovs, the building’s historic and majestic splendour was fully restored, while ensuring the compatibility of the building’s usage with its architectural values.
After 19 months of renovation and reconstruction of the building’s façade and interior under the supervision of SIA Skonto Būve Project Manager Modris Seļakovs, the building’s historic and majestic splendour was fully restored.
The building’s interior now looks more luxurious than ever – the polychrome paintings, historical gold and bronze gilding, and extraordinary thick parquet have all been restored. Several new lamps have been manufactured based on historical samples. And this is just a small example of the work carried out.
In completing the construction work, Skonto Būve has managed to retain the majestic splendour and historic atmosphere of the historic bank building, whilst also creating a building that meets the latest requirements and highest safety standards for modern administrative buildings.
